A common question we get at Express Sushi & Teriyaki is: Why would an Armenian family open a Japanese restaurant? Many customers who walk through our doors are curious about our background, whether we own the restaurant, and if we speak Japanese.

The short answer? Passion, experience, and a love for great food.

When our family moved to the United States in 2000, we entered the restaurant industry and quickly found ourselves working in Japanese and Korean restaurants, including the well-known I Love Teriyaki. The first few years were challenging, but with patience came experience, and with experience came success.

For 15 years, we operated Teriyaki and Korean BBQ restaurants, mastering the art of grilling chicken, beef, salmon, and more. But the real secret? The sauces. Every sauce we use today is homemade in-house at our Rancho Cordova, CA location on Folsom Blvd., ensuring the freshest and most authentic flavors.

With decades of combined experience, we always dreamed of opening our own restaurant. We believed that fresh, flavorful teriyaki plates would pair perfectly with handcrafted sushi rolls, and we were right! Since opening, Express Sushi & Teriyaki has continued to grow, becoming a top-rated sushi restaurant in Sacramento with a loyal customer base.

After 12 successful years in Carmichael, we finally took the chance to open a second location in Rancho Cordova. We are so excited to be serving both cities now and have hopes of bringing our delicious sushi and teriyaki to other parts of Sacramento as well.
